On sunday 6th June, 2311 sqn competed at the wing drill competittion.
There were a total of 10 teams competing this year. The team met at headquarters at 0800 hrs, ready for a quick practice. The sqn minibus arrived at 0830 hrs and we were on the road for 0845 hrs.
We arrived at Barry Buddon(near monifieth) at about 1000 hrs and th team proceeded to get changed into their uniforms. CWO went to the squad commanders meeting at 1030 hrs where they were instructed about the days events.
FS Watson entered his models into the competition. Our team were on 6th which was good - we had the opportunity to observe the other teams first! Finally it was our turn. we went for the inspection from sqn ldr coutts which went well. We then marched round and waited to go on. once it was our turn, we marched on and completed the routine with no mistakes!
we marched off and the CWO fell the team out. Phew! we were congratulated by everybody, including the eventual winning team. we then waited for final parade. Pilot Officer Lumsden marched the squad onto the CWO's position. The wing commander then adressed the parade and the results were awarded. The results are as follows: Inspection: second Drill commander: second Drill movements: second Overall position: second Obviously, the team were very happy at coming second, although first would have been nice! Previous to this, our best position was 1st 5 years ago. Anyway, a good day was had by all and congratulations to the winners, 1145 sqn Dunfermline. [Submitted by moonlight1]
